2020... Wrapping Up The Year That Was

Well what can we say… 2020 has been A YEAR. Although it has been hard for many, operating a business that relies on the event industry when there are no events allowed, has been quite challenging to say the least. It has been a year to remind us that plans are not always in our hands, and that the saying ‘worth the wait’ has never rang more true.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Instead of focusing on the negatives that 2020 has brought us, we wanted to highlight all of our, well, highlights - the moments and memories that will make this year one that will never be forgotten.

The year of collaborations

With all its ups and downs, 2020 brought us one amazing thing.. the gift of collaboration. With the pandemic putting so many small businesses at risk, this year was all about coming together to support one another and lift each-other up.

This May we were lucky enough to collaborate with local SA hire biz Modern Party, to create a beautiful Mother’s Day tablescape - featuring a range of their new hire items. We incorporated a natural palette, using tonal colours, gorgeous dried florals and some gold cutlery to tie it all together - the perfect set-up for Mum, or an upcoming event you may have been having at home during the quieter months. Read our full blog with all the deets here.

September brought us another amazing collaboration with some of our favourite suppliers, which all came together at the iconic Marybank Farm. We wanted to create something different, that had never been seen before in the wedding industry. Lucky enough, The Stylist’s Guide were given complete creative control - taking Marybank Farm’s venue as inspiration to create a European oasis, featuring colour, texture and all of the finer details to make this collab one for the history books.

To showcase their beautiful venue, we gathered together some of Adelaide's top creative and event professionals to create the most picturesque and instagrammable wedding.

Rolling with the punches

This year it has been all about rolling with the punches when times get tough. This year we altered our regular services to continue to provide you with the same level of customer service, instead via e-mail, phone or video call. Enter, The Stylist’s Guide e-services!

Funnily enough, we have found that our clients love them so much, we have decided to keep our e-services available for 2021, as we all know how time poor we can be - especially this year! You can see our full list of e-services here.

One of our brides who utilised these services during a tough time was Georgia. Originally planning to wed at the historic Marybank Farm, nestled in Adelaide’s scenic foothills - a guest list of 92 soon became five, thanks to the newly instated laws around social distancing. Georgia, her Dad, new husband Chris, celebrant and photographer were now the only attendees, after a week and a half deciding whether or not to go ahead with their wedding plans.

Lucky for her, we were right there by Georgia and Chris’ side, ready to answer all of their wedding related queries throughout this period - making their covid-19 elopement the perfect day for them. Read the full story about Georgia and Chris’ wedding here.

Celebrating the highs…

With so many celebrations going out the door in 2020, one thing was for certain… we were going to throw our baby boy’s first birthday, no matter the circumstances. This ended up being one of our favourite events of the year - cue, Santi’s first birthday celebrations at Chicco Palms. This ended up being the perfect venue, which tied in seamlessly with Alyse’s Italian inspired celebration, that had a retro flair. Not only was the food to die for, but the service was absolutely incredible - especially considering Alyse had to change Santi’s celebrations at the last minute due to the ever changing restrictions! You can read the full story of Santi’s birthday here. We’ll let the photos speak for themselves…

And the wins…

This year the 20th South Australian ABIA Awards were held virtually due to the state of the world… and we were incredibly overwhelmed, humbled and still shocked to have received the number one spot in the ‘Independent Wedding Consultant’ Category.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We are eternally grateful for the support of our team and clients who still believed in the impossible when the world stood still and are excited to see what 2021 will bring us!
