Flower Masterclasses | Second Series

A couple of weeks ago we held the second series of Flower Masterclasses, this time at The Gully Public House & Garden and The Moseley in Glenelg. Both classes were an absolute hit with guests, where they learnt to create two bouquets of flowers, while enjoying wine and canapes throughout.

If you’re an avid reader of our blog, you’d remember us writing about the first round of Flower Masterclasses back in July. To keep it fresh this time ‘round we used gorgeous, bright, Spring flowers rather than natives to reflect the change of the seasons, while we were also able to hold The Gully’s class outside on the deck! It was such a beautiful way to create arrangements, as we sat among the trees and leafy greenery.

For both classes, our director Alyse supplied the flowers, styled the event, hosted and taught the class, while directing the afternoon to make sure everything ran smoothly. Both classes were as successful as the last, so we have decided to host a special Christmas edition of our Flower Masterclasses, in the form of Christmas Wreath Making.

It's just $59pp for our Christmas Wreath Making Classes, including a Christmas Wreath that you can make and take home - plus, what’s a festive event without food and wine… we’ll make sure there’s plenty of that going around too. They will be held at The Woodcroft Hotel, The Bartley Hotel and The Gully Public House & Garden, however our Gully class has already sold-out!

Get your tickets for these events before they all sell-out, we can’t wait to join you in making some Christmas cheer.

The Tale of Peter's First Birthday

There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you. - Beatrix Potter

Let us start this post with a tale... the tale of Peter's First Birthday. Once upon a time there was a little rabbit called Peter, who was turning one. His celebration began with a few little ideas that turned a simple and whimsical vision into reality, featuring bluegum and wattle centrepieces, a blue and white colour palette and an incredible backdrop by JAKS Hire and Events

The tale of Peter's First Birthday began on the deck of the Palais Hotel in Semaphore, with Peter's Mum Sandra opting for simple yet effective styling. This included a gorgeous dessert buffet, with an incredible two tier cake by Carol from That Cake Lady, delicious cake pops and the most adorable Peter Rabbit cookies.

Small details were not forgotten, with specially made placemats and centrepieces to create an 'instagramable' flatlay that guests could snap before lunch. If you've been reading along for a while now, you'd know that the small details are the ones we love most, as they make a space come alive.

So the kids didn't get into trouble with Mr. McGregor, we set up the perfect area for all the little rabbits running around... Somewhere comfortable, where they could play and keep them happy and quiet for a while. The stunning table was supplied by our friends at JAKS Hire and Events, along with the bunnies and pillows.

Peter's First Birthday celebration was a magical day, one that we are so happy to have brought to life through the simple yet classy colour palette and attention to detail, all of course while keeping Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail and Peter Rabbit in mind.

We love being part of First Birthdays and the memories created to last a lifetime - get in touch so we can help you bring your vision to life!

Cimon & Vince's Engagement | European Inspired Engagement Party

Hello! Or should we say Ciao... we're off on holidays from August 27th - October 8th. What better way to say bon voyage for our trip to Europe than with a little bit of event reminiscing - in particular, one inspired by our Italian heritage.

One of our favourite jobs this year would have to be styling, organising, managing and executing our sister's engagement party. When Cimon got engaged, we jumped at the opportunity to be her wedding planner... then she asked our Director Alyse to be her maid of honour, and there you have it. It's safe to say our hands were full!

It is always an honour to be part of so many people's events but when your family and friends ask you to be part of it in such a small way, its a wonderful feeling. Especially because you know that they trust you and they have left it all in your hands! - Director, Alyse

Being a beautiful celebration of love mixed in with the Italian heritage of our Bride and Groom to be, Pizzatecca in McLaren Vale was an easy choice for the venue. To top it right off, Italian inspired food and drinks were served throughout the night, including an Italian style grazing table, tomato cans, wine, prosecco, aperol, limoncello and of course, pizza!

Pizzateca has an amazing atmosphere and vibe about it, which meant that when it came to styling we wanted to keep it very simple and not take away from the venue. When it came to choosing the flowers, it wasn't hard at all. Cimon loves natives so we wanted to include another one of her favourite things.

Cimon and Vince have been together for 14 years, something special we wanted to showcase at the event. We created a space where people could admire the past 14 years with a "photowall", pegging over 100 photos onto a large mesh wall, along with some florals and a personalised sign. This gorgeous little shrine also acted as a backdrop for guests to have photos throughout the night.

Our favourite part of the night was transforming Pizzateca's Ape Piaggio into one of our famous drink stations! We took a step back in time and went down the old roads of Italy, using the levels of the car to stack drinks, fit with an Aperol station to boot. Not only did this make it easy for everyone to grab drinks at their own pace (whether skulling or sipping), it created a beautiful feature in the middle of the courtyard space.

Overall we had a theme to follow - rustic chic with a huge touch of Italian tradition, where the decor just followed through. Everyone sang 'that's amore' all night long, and it was night filled with a whole lotta love. This will definitely go down as one of our favourite jobs!

Flower Masterclass | Series of Events

Hello to all of our lovely clients, followers and suppliers, can you believe it’s the middle of the year already? We can’t! Over the past few months we have been so busy styling, planning and organising your events that time seems to be slipping by way too fast… so why not reflect on one of our favourite series of events to date?

Last month our director Alyse experienced a first when it comes to events… not a very frequent occurrence let us tell you! Alyse not only styled but hosted Flower Masterclasses at The Moseley Bar & Kitchen, The Gully Public House & Garden and The Woodcroft Hotel that entailed venue styling, flower supplying and teaching guests how to style both a bouquet and vase with beautiful flower arrangements.

At each event, Alyse led 20+ guests to create their own arrangements to take home, sharing her knowledge arranging and styling with every attendee. Using premium, locally sourced flowers and greenery, the session also included wine, canapés and lots of laughs.

The Flower Masterclasses taught guests the basics of floral arranging and design, as they learnt to create two stunning arrangements for their home, office or next event. The Stylist’s Guide received so much positive feedback from those who attended, that we have been asked back to do a similar series in a few months time… make sure you keep an eye on our Facebook page for when this is announced!

If you want us to host a Styling Masterclass at your next event, get in touch.

Style Society AW18 | VIP Night

Recently we invited some of our favourite VIPs to celebrate Style Society's Autumn/Winter 2018 range the most fashionable way possible... with a styling session featuring Cimon, amazing food and drinks to boot.

Our director Alyse styled the event using the theme of the store, a classic black and white palette, inspired by a marble wall that sits behind the counter. This featured throughout the store, with black, white and marble balloons, a perfect spot for guests to take photos and have fun throughout the night. The installation also perfectly complemented Cimon's talk on current trends.

At The Stylist's Guide we always love to add those finishing touches that bring the whole vision to life, and create an Instagram-worthy event. Along with the beautiful balloon garland, our infamous drink station sat along side a gorgeous collection of wine glasses with gold swizzle sticks, which added a pop to the table.

Finally, a delectable grazing table sat pretty among the clothes, featuring desserts from the Dessert Table and flowers from LilyWest Florist, to create the perfect centrepiece.

We love our collaborations with Cimon Vozzo, especially when they involve fashion. That's why The Stylist's Guide have put together 'For the Fashionista' package.

For the Fashionista styling session with Cimon Vozzo includes:
- a run down of current trends, styling advice and fashion do's and don'ts
- sourcing suppliers
- coordination of overall event, supplier delivery and collection
- use of The Stylist Guide’s drink station props
- styling of venue (excluding props)
*Depending on the venue we can also help with Visual Merchandising.

Bringing these expertise to the Style Society's AW18 event, Cimon spoke about everyone's favourite winter trends - coats, layering and faux fur.

Coats – the perfect accessory with any winter outfit, easy just to throw on, day or night. Cimon told us about the key coat colours for winter, khaki, pastels, neutrals and of course, black!

Layering – because it is so cold during winter, it's so easy to layer... but the question is, how far can I go? Cimon showed everyone how it's easy to layer with a coat over a shirt, but how you can layer with a knit and then pop a leather jacket or coat over.

Faux Fur – the number one accessory this winter. You can pair faux fur with just a pair of
black jeans or with a leather skirt to dress it up a bit.

While Cimon worked her magic, our director Alyse had everything else covered, from the decor, to the invites, drinks and food, every little detail was covered and love by every guest.

Thinking of holding a style session? Let's chat!
